omg love: kilim

Yes, just like every other blogger, I have caught the kilim bug. According to wikipedia, kilim refers to flat, tapestry-woven carpets or rugs produced from the Balkans to Pakistan. Now, I think it more defines a pattern and/or weave vs. general location.

The thing I like most about kilim is its pattern. I love the mix between geometric shapes, stripes and repetition - perfect for layering with a more classic pattern or heavy textures. Just on etsy alone, I fell in love with at least 80 things kilim. Versatile yet statement-making, this stuff is right up my alley.

The key to making it work is balancing the pattern with something modern, classic or simplistic. Think clean lines and minimalistic silhouettes. For example, see the girl holding the laptop case? Pairing the textured stripe with a more classic black and white stripe helps balance the whole schematic.

The only thing that keeps me from buying everything is the cost. It's a little rich for my blood now but hopefully, once I get the savings thing down and stop taking so many trips, I can pick up a couple of these little gems.
