three ways: same couch different pillows.

Tirelessly trying to revamp the same old sofa, I thought it would be fun to pull three different looks using one sofa as inspiration. Experiment with different shapes, patterns and colors to find a work that best works with your personal style. Similar to finding the perfect dress, find pillows that you may not like on the shelf but could work great with the rest of the look.

tip: Start with one pillow as the primary focal point and then dress around it. Pull from the different colors versus pattern to add visual interest without feeling mismatched.

eureka: my future eclectic living room design.

And this is what I'll be saving up for. Starting now.

After browsing the tv consoles yesterday, I figured I might as well look for the rest of the space. Our current sofa is at least a million years old void of any and all shape, complete with matching chair and a half for added blobby-ness. Everything is taupe, brown or beige partly because I couldn't make a decision that long ago and partly because it's impossible to match gross.

So, while I may go with the deeper blue version of the chair, my heart is completely set on fulfilling this look in our living room. It's modern and eclectic with enough charisma and personality to make a person feel at home when visiting. Love, love, love this look.

dress it up: spaceless loft

how to get the look:
Opt for off-centered, overhead pendant lighting instead of artwork above the sofa.
Balance crisp lighting features and fabrics with a weathered sofa and overly saturated rug.
Mix pillow patterns and textures in an odd numbered arrangement to keep things casual.
Add a bit of glitz with a giant bowl painted gold inside.
Keep things open and airy with an industrialized coffee table.

BONUS: Stack magazines and books under the coffee table instead of on the coffee table to save precious table space.
