amie's nursery moodboard.

New year means new projects. This past weekend, I headed over to my friend Amie's house to help paint her nursery in preparation for their baby boy. This will make her second child that still requires a crib, hence the need for a nursery room makeover. Plus, she kind of already has everything from the last one so we were pretty clueless on what to give her as a "shower present". The woman is a saint, I swear. And apparently, extremely fertile.

So, true to form, my friend, Adrea, set up a pinterest board for all of us to post our ideas to. After going through color choices and bedroom styles, Amie settled on a pale aqua and red as her/our inspiration.

To help out just a tad bit more, I've decided to make some rough moodboards for the timeless, boy-friendly space she's hoping to achieve. They feature everything from curtains to artwork to the furniture she's already collected so far.

The paint color Amie chose is Benjamin Moore's Under the Big Top.  I absolutely ADORE this color, especially when paired with a couple of red tall dressers and dark walnut furniture she already has. The idea was to take this fantastic base and pair with some fun pattern, quirky artwork and soft neutrals. The key to making all of these patterns work together is to balance with pieces that are sizable and solid colors (i.e. nursery furniture, dressers, rocking chair, bedding, all white frames). Then, by dispersing the pattern equally throughout the room, the space maintains balance without being boring or too matchy-matchy.
